Job Description

The Opportunity

We are reshaping our modern, enterprise-scale data platform to drive smarter, data-driven decisions across our Retail business. Our Data Operations team builds and optimises the Retail & Analytics Data Hub (RADH), serving as the strategic core of analytics and reporting.

We seek a Platform Specialist to:

  • **Take technical ownership of RADH
  • Shape the future of our data platform
  • Work at the intersection of platform engineering, data architecture, and Snowflake innovation

This role is ideal for someone with a passion for immersive technical excellence, collaborations, and influencing large-scale data platform evolution.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Retail & Analytics Data Hub (RADH) as our enterprise data platform
  • Introduce and optimise Snowflake capabilities to enhance performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Serve as a Snowflake subject matter expert (SME), driving best practices across the organisation
  • Improve automation through:
    • CI/CD pipelines
    • Infrastructure as code approaches
    • Orchestration frameworks
  • Embed observability in the platform via:
    • Monitoring and responsive alerting
    • Effective data lineage tools
    • Data quality assurance
  • Collaborate with Information Security to solidify:
    • Governance frameworks
    • Security mechanisms
    • Access control policies
  • Partner with engineers, analysts, and product teams to ensure smooth platform adoption and delivery
  • Optimise platform costs while adhering to agreed-upon standards for:
    • Availability, performance, and data quality
  • Advocate for innovation and embrace learning emerging technologies

Requirements & Skills

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in:
    • data platform design or data engineering within cloud environments (e.g., Snowflake, GCP, AWS)
    • Supporting enterprise-scale data platforms and architecture development
    • Data governance, security, access management, and compliance frameworks
  • Deep technical expertise in Snowflake, including:
    • Core features and methodologies
    • Query optimization
    • Stack integration patterns (with tools like AWS/GCP, ETL, orchestration)
  • Proficient SQL skills to design, query, and optimise complex datasets
  • Experience debugging scale issues for:
    • Performance and load
    • Operational efficiency
    • Best practices in production

Preferred Qualifications

  • Collaborative mindset with a track record of:
    • Supporting colleagues
    • Enabling innovation
    • Translating technical details for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with tools and frameworks for unified data intelligence (e.g., change data capture, ML ops)
  • Interest in emerging data paradigms, such as:
    • Real-time analytics
    • Observability and transparent architecture
    • AI-driven insights
