Platforms Technical Lead

Location: Bristol

Salary: Up to £57,000

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Our client is looking to recruit a Platforms Technical Lead based in Bristol on a full time, permanent contract basis. The Platforms Technical Lead plays a key role in ensuring the organisation's business-critical technology platforms remain secure, resilient and fit for the future.

The Platforms Technical Lead provides technical leadership across a range of enterprise technologies, including Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams and Defender. This role acts as a senior technical escalation point, coordinates third-party managed service providers, and supports the delivery of projects, operational improvements and technology initiatives across the organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical lead and key point of contact for third-party vendors and service providers, ensuring solutions align with business and technical requirements.
  • Manage escalated technical issues, coordinating internal teams and external partners to deliver timely resolutions in line with service standards.
  • Support and enhance the organisation's security, governance, and compliance frameworks, including vulnerability management and system patching.
  • Maintain and develop identity and access management solutions, including SSO, MFA, automated provisioning, and security baselines.
  • Lead the creation, review, and continuous improvement of technical processes, documentation, test plans, and operational playbooks.
  • Monitor platform performance, security, and resilience, managing alerts and driving proactive service improvements.
  • Provide technical leadership during major incidents, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.
  • Support the design, implementation, testing, and transition of new systems, platforms, and technology projects.
  • Act as a technical escalation point for the Digital Services team, providing expert guidance across the organisation's platforms, systems, and websites.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong experience working with and managing third-party vendors, service providers, and stakeholders to deliver effective IT services.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Defender, Active Directory, Windows Server, and Power Platform.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing IT governance, security, and operational best practices, including vulnerability management and compliance processes.
  • Solid understanding of infrastructure technologies, including networking, Wi-Fi, firewalls, email security, backup, disaster recovery, and identity and access management.
  • Experience supporting IT operations and projects, including service desk environments, monitoring tools, testing, troubleshooting, and technical project delivery.
  • Proactive, positive, and collaborative, with a strong "can-do" attitude and commitment to delivering excellent outcomes.
  • A confident problem-solver, able to work through complex challenges, ambiguity, and evolving business requirements.
  • Self-motivated and capable of independently investigating, troubleshooting, and implementing technical solutions.
  • Strong communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills, able to build relationships, work effectively as part of a team, and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptable and inquisitive, with a passion for continuous learning, emerging technologies, and driving service improvements.
  • Successful DBS check.
