Play Support Worker - Islesburgh Out of School Club - SIC08869

Play Support Worker – Temporary Part Time Posts

We are seeking to recruit Play Support Worker(s) to join our team at Islesburgh Out of School Club, Lerwick, Shetland.

About the Role

You will assist in the delivery of a quality childcare service, offering children care, play and learning opportunities in a safe, stimulating and enjoyable environment.

The Play Support Worker will work closely with the Manager/Play Practitioners to:

  • Ensure the environment remains safe, hygienic and welcoming
  • Maintain a caring ethos, aligning with current legislation
  • Operate under the Scottish Social Services Scotland (SSSC) Roles and Responsibilities Framework for the Childcare Workforce
  • Foster mutual trust, respect and confidence among staff, children and families

Details of the Post:

  • Grade E
  • Inclusive pay: £1.5523/hour including Distant Islands Allowance
  • Work commitment: Temporary Part Time (annualised 12.16 hrs/week)
    • 8.4 hours/week (term time)
    • 22.4 hours/week (school holidays)
    • Duration until 31 May 2028 (52.18 weeks/year)

Key Requirements

✅ Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme membership or upgrade – mandatory before employment. ✅ Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) upon appointment. ✅ Two named references must be provided as part of the application. ✅ No relocation package offered. ✅ Modernjos (www.shetland.gov.uk).
