Job Title: Playworker
Employer: Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council Location: Oak Cottage Primary School, Solihull Type: 16-hour fixed-term contract (Sept 2026–March 2027) Hours: Term time only, Monday–Thursday (7:30am–6:00pm), flexible hours possible
About the Role
We are seeking a Playworker to support children attending the Breakfast Club and After School Club in our school. You will work across the EYFS and primary age groups, supporting daily activities, breakfast, snacks, and leading engaging play sessions.
This is a fun, caring, and team-oriented position within a hardworking school, ideal for a dedicated and flexible individual who supports our inclusive ethos.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with children from Early Years Foundations Stage (EYFS) to primary age
- Assist with meals/breakfast provision (including preparing and serving snacks)
- Lead and support structured/creative play activities
- Work collaboratively with staff to create a positive and nurturing environment
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding for all children
- Adhere to school rules and maintain confidentiality

Requirements
- Enhanced DBS check and pre-employment safeguarding check required
- Ability to work weeks, weekends, and across varied daytime shifts
- Commitment to term-time only contract
- No formal qualifications required but prior experience in playwork, childcare, or equivalent desired
- Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic approach with children
