Role Description

The PLC Control Systems Engineer (Water) is a full-time hybrid role based in Norwich, with the flexibility for some work from home. The role involves designing, programming, and commissioning PLC-based control systems for water and wastewater applications. Day-to-day tasks include:

The engineer will troubleshoot system issues, perform testing and validation, and provide technical support during installation and handover. Collaboration with project managers, design engineers, and clients to ensure systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements is also a key part of the position.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Process Control and Control Systems Design for industrial and water sector applications.
  • Solid foundation in Electrical Engineering and Systems Engineering for integrated PLC and SCADA solutions.
  • Proven ability in Troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and resolving control system and electrical issues.
  • Experience with PLC platforms (e.g., Mitsubishi, Rockwell) and associated SCADA systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and quality management systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and wiring diagrams.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification, with experience in the water or utilities sector considered an advantage.
