Role Description
We have opportunities for all the listed positions; PLC Engineer / Electrical Design Engineer / Eplan Engineer roles are full-time hybrid positions based in Irlam, with some site work and remote working in the mix.
Day-to-day Responsibilities
Electrical Design Engineer/ Eplan Engineer
- Designing and developing electrical control systems.
- Producing detailed schematics and documentation using engineering design tools such as EPLAN, Autocad, etc.

PLC Engineer
- Configuring, programming, and testing PLC-based control systems.
- Knowledge of HMI and SCADA a bonus.
The roles involve collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams to understand requirements, develop technical solutions, and ensure designs meet safety, regulatory, and customer standards. The engineer will support system integration, commissioning, fault-finding, and continuous improvement activities across client projects. Additional tasks include preparing technical reports, maintaining design records, and contributing to project planning and risk assessments.
Qualifications/ Skills Dependent on Role
PLC Engineer
- Strong skills in PLC programming and configuration, including experience with common industrial PLC platforms and control systems.
Electrical Design Engineer/ Eplan Engineer
- Proficiency in electrical design, including creating schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts, ideally using EPLAN or similar CAD tools.

Common Skills
- Knowledge of industrial automation, instrumentation, and control principles, including communication protocols and safety-related systems.
- Understanding of relevant electrical standards and regulations (e.g., BS/IEC standards), and good practice in design for safety and reliability.
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications, P&IDs, and technical documentation, and translate requirements into practical designs.
- Experience supporting site installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical and control systems.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and engage with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational abilities, including attention to detail and accountability for project deliverables.
- A relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Control/Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
