Plumbing & Heating Sales Executive

About the Role
MKM currently has an exciting opportunity for a Plumbing & Heating Sales Executive based in Indsen.
In this proactive role, your core ambition will be to nurture and develop the plumbing and heating market for our branch, including both direct-to-tradesperson and commercial customers. Your responsibilities span sales, customer service, and stock management, ensuring we maintain a strong position as the go-to supplier for light side compliance products—including taps, sinks, showers, pumps, valves, and pipe products.

Responsibilities
Sales & Customer Growth
- Actively grow and establish a sustainable customer base of tradespeople, contractors, and commercial buyers.
- Provide accurate, competitive quotations to prospective customers, ensuring we remain the preferred choice.
- Utilise proactive field activity, including seasonal campaigns (where applicable) and cold-calling initiatives, to drive sales opportunities.
- Convert leads into sales through excellent customer engagement, offering expert product advice and tailored solutions.

Customer Relationships
- Build and maintain relationships over the telephone and in person, ensuring long-term business retention.
- Provide a 5-star customer service experience, acting as an expert adviser within your product range.
- Handle objections professionally to deliver every customer interaction positively and answers firmly.
Stock & Procurement
- Work closely with head office & branches to schedule and manage product enquiries and deliveries effectively.
- Monitor stock levels and product movement to ensure selections remain optimal for customer requirements.
- Collaborate on forecasting planning, product inputting, replenishment, and ‘end-of-range’ product strategies to maximise efficiency.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- Confident, proactive sales professional with previous experience in plumbing & heating merchant sales (or builder’s merchant environment).
- Strong, lengthy sales background, with experience in telephone and face-to-face sales techniques.
- Sound knowledge of tap, sink, shower, pump, and pipe products, plus a commitment to continuous learning.
- Ability to build trust and rapport with customers, including both exclusively and on site visits.
- Excellent telephone communication skills and commercial acumen.
- Data literate and computer proficient, demonstrating an ability to quickly learn new systems.
Nice-to-have Experience
- Industry knowledge on projects controlling processes, understanding tradespeople schedules, or certifications in sales/marketing.
