Plumbing and Maintenance Service Engineer - FTC 12 Months
Service Engineer – Onsite Water Softener Maintenance & Installation
Culligan Harvey Water Soffeners are seeking a Service Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team.
About the Role
The Service Engineer will:
- Field operate to provide onSite customer service for water softener repair, maintenance, and installation across domestic homes and dealer premises
- Conduct technical assessments in the field and relay findings to the Service Manager
- Travel to customer premises using assigned company vehicles
- Build technical expertise through a comprehensive with-the-job training programme delivered by in-house experts

Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair water softener systems to the highest standards
- Conduct thorough pre-visit diagnostics and log findings before service calls
- Install, calibrate, and replace components of domestic water softeners
- Provide technical support to dealers when requested
- Report vehicle/equipment issues promptly for maintenance
- Adapt to a fast-paced, client-facing role with a high degree of travel
- Support growth during our current phase of business transformation
The Ideal Candidate
To succeed in this position, you will:
Experience & Qualifications
- Be currently employed or qualified as a domestic plumber, holding either:
- A NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing & Heating
- Time-served experience (equivalent to NVQ Level 2)
- Have practical knowledge of plumbing and water systems
- Have hands-on experience replacing or repairing domestic appliances (white goods)—essential

Skills & Characteristics
- Proven customer service excellence with the ability to handle delicate, sympathetic interactions in a client’s home
- Technical aptitude, adaptability, and the ability to learn complex systems quickly
- Strong attention to detail, methodical approach to problem-solving, and a desire to continuously improve
- Self-motivated, with an independent work ethic but also an ability to operate well in a team
- Communication skills, ability to reassure clients and build rapport
- Physical fitness to operate on-site for extended periods

Based in Old Woking, Surrey, with full national reciprocal travel support across service territories.
