Reactive Plumbing Engineer
About the Role
Location: Croydon area Hours: 40 hours per week (rota system in place) Salary: £33,000 - £38,000 per annum (DOE) plus on-call & overtime (additional 5-6K per annum)
Metro Plumb is a national plumbing business with over 40 local depots across the UK. Their expert teams handle a wide range of issues, including:
- Emergency repairs and leak stops
- Broken boiler fixes
- Replacing dripping taps
As part of Franchise Brands PLC, Metro Plumb works with sister companies to provide a comprehensive "water in, waste out" service. Customers benefit from:
- Access to over 600 specialist drainage, pump, plumbing, and FOG engineers
- Full service offering (drainage, plumbing, pump, and heating)
- Differentiated refrigeration seal replacement service
Metro Plumb is part of Metro Rod, a drainage solutions leader with over 40 years of experience. Both businesses operate under a broader franchise group, Franchise Brands.

What’s Involved?
You’ll be a confident plumbing professional responsible for conducting all aspects of plumbing work, including:
- Installation and maintenance of:
- Toilets
- Taps
- Ball valves
- Siphons
- Flexible hoses
- Pipework
- Radiator valves
- Cylinders
- Heating systems (domestic and commercial)
- Primarily attending emergency plumbing jobs (leaks, accidents, installations, and repairs)
Customer satisfaction is a priority—quality work and service are key.
Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Proven experience as a Plumbing/ Plumbing & Heating Engineer (domestic and commercial)
- NVQ Level 2 qualification (minimum requirement)
- Preferred qualifications (not essential):
- Gas installer experience
- Pump experience
- Renewable energy background
- Unvented cylinder certification
- Full UK driving license
- Willingness to undergo (or prior completion of) DBS check
- Flexibility to work overtime when required
