PMLD Learning Support Assistant

PMLD LSA – Specialist Primary School, Redhouse Swindon

A small, friendly, and nurturing specialist primary school in Redhouse, Swindon is seeking a PMLD LSA to commence immediately on a fixed-term contract until the end of the academic year. Pay rate: £104–£115 per day.

This collaborative environment welcomes applicants passionate about supporting pupils with a range of needs, including autism, severe, and profound learning disabilities (PMLD). With small class sizes, you’ll benefit from full support from teaching staff and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support tailored to each child’s individual requirements.
  • Assist in delivering specialist lessons designed for pupils with PMLD, ensuring access to inclusive learning opportunities.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to monitor progress and adapt support as needs evolve.
  • Implement strategies to boost communication skills—interpreting verbal/non-verbal cues and responding sensitively.
  • Contribute to a nurturing atmosphere, promoting self-esteem and independence.
  • Maintain confidential records of personal achievements and learning advancements.

Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a similar role, particularly within PMLD or SEND settings.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to undertake the process).
