PMO Governance Analyst
PMO Governance Analyst – Portsmouth Water
We’re making a difference: Together, we can ensure that there is enough water for everyone, now and in the future.
At Portsmouth Water, we’re investing in the future of our services and strong governance is at the heart of delivering that ambition. As a PMO Governance Analyst, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting our Strategic Programme Managers, helping to strengthen programme governance, enhance controls, and ensure our capital delivery activity consistently meets organisational standards, regulatory expectations, and recognised best practice.
This is a role where your insight truly matters. You’ll bring clarity, coordination, and high-quality reporting that enables senior leaders to make confident, informed decisions across our capital portfolio. Beyond this, you’ll help shape how we continuously improve, sharing lessons learned, identifying what works (and what doesn’t), and contributing to the ongoing development of our PMO assurance capability across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support planning, coordination, and monitoring of strategic programmes; conduct QA reviews of milestones and deliverables to ensure governance compliance.
- Assist with data cleansing and migration; track progress, highlight trends and dependencies, and suggest improvements to PMO processes and tools.
- Monitor budgets (internal and external) and support the development and maintenance of programme cost plans.
- Produce clear, timely reports on performance, risks, financials, and key metrics; log and track risks and issues to support proactive delivery.
- Organise governance meetings, manage agendas and actions, and maintain accurate, up-to-date programme documentation and project hub.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships, enable clear communication, and support adoption of the PPM tool across strategic and M&G portfolios.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
