About the role
The Enterprise Transformation PMO Lead is accountable for establishing and operating the PMO for the programme, providing integrated planning, first line assurance across the delivery lifecycle, and clear, pragmatic project management standards, frameworks, and policies. The role enables senior leader decision-making by maintaining a transparent view of programme health, risks, dependencies and readiness, while enforcing consistent delivery standards across workstreams and partners. This role also uplifts delivery maturity and quality, ensuring the programme progresses through defined phase gates with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management:
- Establish and enforce consistent delivery standards, reporting expectations, and ways of working across the programme, balancing rigour with pragmatism.
- Coordinate readiness checkpoints across domains (e.g. Business, Technology, Data, Security & Controls); tracking closure of critical actions and conditions to proceed.
- Define & use delivery metrics to identify patterns, bottlenecks, and systemic issues.
- Drive consistent ways of working, reporting standards, and delivery expectations.
- Coach workstreams where delivery maturity is uneven.
Project Delivery Execution:
- Own the comprehensive integrated project plan (L0 – L3) identifying and escalating plan conflicts, resource contentions and sequencing risks.
- Ensures programme planning reflects SAP S/4 HANA delivery realities including design to build traceability, test cycles, mock conversions, and deployment waves.
- Partner with Deployment Lead to coordinate integrated cutover planning ensuring cutover plans are tested, resourced, and decision-based; tracking risks, rehearsals & “go / no go” criteria.

Programme RAIDD, Change Control & Assurance:
- Accountable for programme-level RAID and change control, ensuring risks and issues are proactively identified, clearly owned, and managed to closure.
- Act as first-line assurance for delivery quality, challenging optimism bias, and ensuring transparency on delivery risk.
- Drive quality assurance across deliverables, including definition of programme phase entry/exit criteria, and supporting compliance with additional assurance requirements.
- Ensure change impacts are understood end-to-end across scope, timeline, cost, readiness, and value.
- Provide assurance that deployment plans reflect operational constraints and business continuity requirements, not just technical readiness.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as a trusted partner to senior leaders by providing a single, credible view of programme health, risks, and delivery confidence.
- Influence senior leaders and workstream leads to maintain delivery discipline, addressing underperformance through data-led insight and constructive challenge.
- Capture and apply lessons learned across phases, waves, and deployments to strengthen future delivery.
Programme Onboarding & Continuous Improvement:
- Uses programme performance data and leading indicators to anticipate issues and drive corrective action.
- Drive maturity uplift of PMO capabilities, coaching teams, strengthening use of frameworks, and ensuring quality assurance becomes embedded in day-to-day delivery.
- Actively participate in the Transformation Office’s Delivery Excellence pillar activities to support enterprise maturity of PPPM practices.
- Embed a culture of continuous improvement across the programme, using data-driven insights to drive enhancements to programme delivery practices.
- Accountable for all the administration and onboarding-related activities for the programme.
Qualifications and skills
- Proven experience leading a PMO within a large-scale, multi-year enterprise transformation in a multi-national / matrix organisation.
- Proven experience leading a PMO on an S4 HANA enabled transformation is desirable.
- Demonstrated track record defining, embedding, and evolving PMO standards and controls to enable effective decision-making and delivery confidence; able to balance rigour with delivery pragmatism, ensuring control mechanisms enable momentum.
- Advanced skill in integrated planning and dependency orchestration; including the ability to identify systemic risks, sequencing conflicts, and readiness gaps across the delivery lifecycle.
- Skilled in facilitating cross-functional planning conversations to drive alignment across workstreams.
- Established experience acting as first-line assurance for programme delivery, providing senior leaders with transparent, evidence-based insight on risks, issues, dependencies and delivery confidence.
- Experience operating in matrixed, multi-vendor environments, influencing delivery outcomes without direct authority, and maintaining neutrality across competing priorities.
- Strong judgment in assessing and communicating the end-to-end impact of change, including implications.
- Exceptional Communication & Stakeholder Engagement – able to communicate complex programme information clearly and credibly with senior executives and cross-functional teams; adept at escalation management.
