Location: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we’re moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, so you’ll be based there in the future - Hybrid Working (2-3 days in office a week – Bradford/Leeds)

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

We have an exciting opportunity for a PMO Lead – Technology to join the the PMO (Portfolio Management Office) team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

The PMO (Portfolio Management Office) team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

The PMO Lead plays a pivotal role in enabling the successful delivery of Yorkshire Water's Technology Portfolio. With over 130 projects and programmes being delivered across five portfolios, this role sits at the heart of a dynamic and fast-paced change environment, helping to ensure that technology investments are delivered effectively, efficiently and in line with business priorities. Working within the Technology PMO, the PMO Lead provides leadership, governance and oversight across a diverse range of technology initiatives that support every area of the business. From modernising customer and operational systems to enabling digital transformation and Operational Technology improvements across our estate, the role helps ensure that change is delivered in a consistent, controlled and transparent manner.

The position acts as a trusted partner to Portfolio Managers, Project Managers and senior stakeholders, providing challenge, support and expert guidance to drive high standards of project delivery. By championing best practice in governance, planning, financial management, reporting, risk and assurance, the PMO Lead enables informed decision-making and helps maximise the value delivered by the Technology Portfolio. Where you fit in:

As our PMO Lead – Technology you will:

  • Lead and oversee PMO governance across a portfolio of technology projects and programmes, ensuring compliance with agreed standards, controls and delivery frameworks.
  • Provide governance, assurance and expert support to Project Managers, Portfolio Managers and stakeholders to drive successful project outcomes.
  • Coordinate governance activities, including stage gate reviews, investment approvals and key portfolio submissions.
  • Review and challenge project information to ensure reporting, governance artefacts and delivery plans are accurate, robust and timely.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on governance, delivery best practice and portfolio management.
  • Support effective decision-making by providing clear and accurate portfolio insights, reporting and management information.
  • Monitor project and programme performance, identifying risks, issues, dependencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee the management of Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Dependencies (RAID), ensuring appropriate mitigation and escalation processes are in place.
  • Support the governance and assessment of change requests, ensuring impacts to scope, timelines and budget are fully understood and managed.
  • Manage portfolio financial controls, including budgets, forecasts, expenditure tracking and investment reporting.
  • Analyse portfolio performance data, highlighting key trends, risks, variances and areas requiring intervention.
  • Produce and consolidate high-quality portfolio reports for senior leadership and governance forums.
  • Maintain accurate and reliable portfolio data, ensuring a trusted source of governance, delivery and financial information.
  • Drive continuous improvement across PMO processes, controls and reporting, implementing lessons learned to enhance delivery effectiveness.
  • Support the successful delivery of technology transformation initiatives, ensuring change programmes provide value and align with business objectives.

  • Experience working within a PMO, Portfolio Office or Project Controls environment, supporting the successful delivery of projects and programmes.
  • Proven ability to coordinate and support multiple projects within a fast-paced portfolio setting.
  • A strong understanding of project governance, project lifecycles and change control processes.
  • Previous experience maintaining project plans, RAID logs, reporting packs and delivery documentation.
  • Knowledge of project budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting, with strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to analyse project data, identify risks and issues, and provide constructive challenge to drive successful outcomes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to engage at all levels.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively.
  • Experience supporting Technology or IT change initiatives would be an advantage.
  • A strong knowledge of portfolio management methodologies and governance frameworks is desirable.
  • A project management qualification such as PRINCE2, P3O, APM PMQ, or equivalent would be beneficial.
