Job Title: PMO Manager

Job description for home-based role with occasional travel in the UK.

About the Role

We’re looking for a PMO Manager to support the delivery of complex programmes across Central Government projects. In this role, you’ll provide structured PMO leadership, helping to embed governance, strengthen processes, and enable successful delivery across large-scale transformation and operational services.

This is a key position within the portfolio office, working closely with project teams and stakeholders to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver core PMO services, including governance, planning, reporting, RAID management, and change control across programmes
  • Lead the implementation and consistent application of PMO standards, processes, and templates
  • Develop and maintain integrated project plans, tracking progress and highlighting risks or variances
  • Produce reporting, dashboards, and management information to support decision-making and assurance
  • Work with project managers to manage risks, issues, and governance processes across delivery
  • Lead and support PMO analysts, embedding governance practices and driving continuous improvement

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Experience working within a PMO environment supporting complex programmes
  • Strong understanding of governance, planning, reporting, RAID, and the governance lifecycle
  • Experience applying and enforcing governance processes across projects
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across different levels of seniority
  • Strong analytical skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to interpret data
  • Experience in fast-paced project delivery environments, including managing risks, issues, and plans
  • Experience in people management, including leading, coaching, and mentoring

Desirable

  • Experience working in Government, public services, or other regulated environments
  • PRINCE2, MSP, Agile, or equivalent qualifications
