Supporting services that make a difference to our communities
The Economy, Innovation and Growth Group is delivering a large and complex portfolio of regeneration, housing, transport and energy programmes.
As our PMO Portfolio Analyst, you will play a key role in transforming how we understand and manage this portfolio. You will help build a modern, data-driven PMO function providing clear, real-time insight that supports better decision-making, stronger governance and improved delivery outcomes.
This is an opportunity to shape how a multi-billion-pound portfolio is analysed, understood and communicated at the highest level.
What You Will Get To Do
In this role, you will:
- Develop and continuously improve the portfolio performance framework, ensuring alignment with wider organisational reporting and governance requirements
- Create automated, digital and data-driven reporting solutions that replace manual processes and provide real-time portfolio insight
- Work with Programme Delivery Leads and senior stakeholders to develop and maintain a live, integrated portfolio dashboard
- Analyse portfolio performance, financial data, risks, dependencies and delivery confidence to provide clear, forward-looking insight
- Identify emerging trends, risks and constraints across the portfolio, supporting early intervention and informed decision-making
- Translate complex data into clear, visual and narrative insight for senior leaders and governance boards
- Ensure reporting and analysis aligns with national standards for project, programme and portfolio management frameworks
- Support governance processes through the production of high-quality, evidence-based reporting and insights
- Coordinate portfolio-level risks, issues and dependencies, identifying cross-cutting themes and systemic challenges
- Support prioritisation, pipeline development and investment planning through robust analytical insight and scenario modelling
- Promote digital, data and AI-driven approaches across the PMO, supporting continuous improvement and innovation

What You Will Bring
You will bring:
- Portfolio and programme management knowledge Understanding of project, programme and portfolio environments, ideally within a public sector or similar context
- Digital and data expertise Experience of using digital tools, automation and data analysis techniques to produce high-quality reporting and insight
- Analytical and insight capability Strong ability to analyse complex datasets and translate them into clear, evidence-based insights for decision-making
- Reporting and visualisation skills Experience of developing dashboards, reporting tools or data models that present complex information clearly
- Governance and assurance awareness Understanding of governance, assurance and reporting requirements within programme or portfolio environments
- Stakeholder engagement and communication Ability to work with a range of stakeholders and communicate complex information clearly and effectively
- Qualification or equivalent experience Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in programme, project or portfolio delivery or a related discipline
