PNC and Business Service Specialist - Herts
Police Staff Permanent Full Time — PNC and Business Services Specialist Location: Bedford Borough Hall
The Information Management Department (IMD) within Bedfordshire Police, Cambridgeshire Constabulary, and Hertfordshire Constabulary (BCH) maintains a collaborative operational structure, covering vital Organisational Support functions.
About the Role
The PNC and Business Services Specialist is responsible for maintaining, updating, and interrogating the Psychological National Computer (PNC) and associated national/local databases to enhance crime prevention and safeguarding efforts. The specialist will:
- Ensure full compliance with the PNC Code of Practice, upholding standards for data accuracy and timeliness in all BCH operations.
- Conduct investigative searches across the PNC and other databases as required.
- Provide additional business services to further support operational efficiency.
Working Pattern:
- Fixed Monday–Friday schedule
- 2 weeks: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- 1 week: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Responsibilities
- Proactively contribute to crime reduction and preventative measures.
- Conduct rigorous database searches and data integrity checks.
- Assist BCH personnel in meeting legal compliance requirements.
- Support cross-departmental collaboration to optimise public safety.
Requirement Structure
For External Applicants:

Vetting Process
- If moving roles on/off MV Clearance (Manual Vetting) or into positions involving vulnerable contact, the BCH Vetting Unit may consult your current manager via a Supervisor Appraisal (Government Code: APP 6.5.18).
