About the Role
Within the Trafford Local Care Organisation (TLCO) an opportunity has arisen to recruit permanent full time HCPC registered Band 5 podiatrists. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated podiatrists to join our proactive and supportive team, where you will be able to develop your podiatry skills.
The posts will be ideally suited to newly qualified or experienced podiatrists alike. The Trafford Podiatry Service operates out of community health centres across the patch and delivers care to patients in their own homes and residential care.
We offer an all age service where there are opportunities to develop skills in High Risk Foot Management, Wound management, Biomechanics, Podo-paediatrics and Nail Surgery. The podiatry team supports the secondary Care Diabetic Foot Multidisciplinary Team and provides inpatient management to patients in Trafford General Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- A car driver is essential.
- The post holder will contribute to audit and service improvements.
- To work in clinics, health centres, residential and nursing homes, day centres, in the patient's own home and on occasion in the acute sector as required.
- To actively manage patient treatment programmes in line with care planning and discharge guidelines.
- With the ability to use the decision making process to identify when patients require the intervention of other professional and/or departmental specialist areas by following agreed referral pathways.
- To conduct nail surgery and undertake a minimum of 20 procedures under supervision if not already proficient in this procedure.
- To arrange for the provision of podiatry orthoses, pressure relieving insoles and shoe inserts where appropriate.
- To be responsible for the day to day planning of personal workloads for clinics, for the completion of home visits and for visits to residential and nursing homes.
- To be flexible and provide cover for other podiatrists at short notice or during periods of absence.
- Complete all necessary administrative duties associated with the post.
- Any Other Duties As Required By The Department.
- Comply with all Trust Policies, guidelines and procedures.
