Band 6 Podiatrist
Work base - Portree Hospital
This is an exciting post also open to recent graduates who may wish to increase their clinical skills.
This post may incorporate a significant period of mentorship covering clinical techniques in advance of those usually experienced at college as required. These will include:
- Extensive nail surgery experience
- Post Tibial blocks
- Deep enucleations
- Needling / blunt dissections of verrucae
- MSK podiatry
- Wound care management of the high-risk limb
No previous experience is necessary although an understanding of the philosophy of care aims is desirable.
You will have a BSc qualification in Podiatric Medicine and be qualified in Local Anaesthesia (L.A) and nail surgery, along with registration with the HCPC.

The work base is at Portree Hospital, based on the Isle of Skye, which is about 2 hours and 30 minutes drive from the Highland capital, Inverness.

You will be able to demonstrate a sound professional and clinical knowledge, with an understanding of clinical governance, and its application. Of greatest importance is an ability to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to prioritise, plan, and organise your workload. Essential requirements also include a full, current driving license.

Additional Information For Candidates
Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part-time hours will be adjusted on a pro-rata basis. There will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
