Band 5 Podiatrist (Open to Final Year Podiatry Students)
Are you an enthusiastic and motivated podiatrist looking to start or develop your NHS career? We are seeking a compassionate and forward-thinking Band 5 Podiatrist to join our friendly and supportive West Essex Podiatry Service.
This is an excellent opportunity for both newly qualified graduates and experienced podiatrists to work within a well-established multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality care across a range of community settings.
You will have the opportunity to develop your clinical skills across a diverse caseload, including high-risk foot care, wound management, diabetic foot care, musculoskeletal podiatry and nail surgery, supported by experienced clinicians committed to your professional development.
We also work closely with Podiatric Surgery, Patient Appliances and Tissue Viability and have a Multidisciplinary Diabetic Foot Team based at Princess Alexandra Hospital.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Podiatrist to join our friendly and supportive West Essex Podiatry Service. This role is suitable for both newly qualified and experienced podiatrists, with structured support and development available for new graduates.
The post holder will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients presenting with a range of podiatric conditions, working within community clinics, patients' homes and other community settings as required. The role offers opportunities to develop knowledge and skills across routine and high-risk podiatry, diabetic foot care, wound management, musculoskeletal podiatry and nail surgery.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive podiatric assessments, including vascular, neurological, musculoskeletal and dermatological examinations.
- Develop and implement individualised treatment plans.
- Provide routine and specialist podiatry treatments appropriate to the patient's needs.
- Assess and manage patients with high-risk foot conditions, including those with diabetes and peripheral vascular disease.
- Participate in wound management and ulcer care in accordance with local guidelines.
- Assess suitability for nail surgery and support delivery of nail surgery services following appropriate training and competency sign-off.
- Provide foot health education, self-management advice and preventative care to patients and carers.
- Refer patients appropriately to other healthcare professionals and specialist services when required.
- To work in collaboration with specialist teams, GPs, and other healthcare professionals
- To provide specialised advice to community-based colleagues and other members of the MDT working within other clinical areas and primary care.

Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate, timely and contemporaneous patient records.
- Practice in accordance with HCPC Standards of Proficiency and the Royal College of Podiatry professional standards.
- Participate in clinical supervision, appraisal and continuing professional development.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current evidence-based practice.
- Work within the Trust's policies relating to safeguarding, infection prevention and control, consent and clinical governance.
Service Responsibilities
- Contribute to the delivery of an effective, high-quality podiatry service.
- Support service improvement initiatives, clinical audit and quality improvement activities.
- Participate in team meetings and multidisciplinary working.
- Support podiatry students and learners as appropriate.

- Complete mandatory training in line with Trust policy and procedures
- To participate in the staff appraisal process
- To keep yourself updated on all matters relating to Trust policy
