Job Description
Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Podiatry Assistant Practitioner to join our innovative Podiatry team. Your role will include working alongside the podiatrists, independently running your own footcare clinics and managing a domiciliary caseload.
The role is varied and includes:
- Nail care
- Undertaking foot assessments
- Taking bloods
- Assisting with nail surgery and wound care clinics
You will be part of the wider podiatry team working within clinics and patients' own homes so being a car user is essential for this role.
To undertake this role, you will need to complete (unless already completed) the Royal College of Podiatry Assistant Practitioner or equivalent training course as well as venepuncture competencies. You will be assigned a mentor to guide you through the training.
Unfortunately, this role does not meet the criteria required to qualify for sponsorship.
Main duties of the job
- Working under the direction of a Podiatrist to provide appropriate treatment and dressing procedures in both acute and community settings
- Assisting at nail surgery sessions including maintenance of a sterile field and preparation of local anaesthesia injections
- Carrying out venepuncture for the podiatry service
- Assisting in appointment scheduling and reception duties as required
- Providing nail care in clinic and domiciliary situations in line with individual treatment plans; this will include patients whose medical conditions may put their lower limbs "at risk"
- Maintaining clear, accurate and full patient records, this will include electronic patient records

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
