The Role: Fire, Emergency & Security Systems Apprentice

Our Fire, Emergency & Security Systems Apprenticeship programme offers a structured path to develop your technical skills while working alongside experienced engineers. As an apprentice, you’ll assist with the installation, maintenance, and fault-finding of key systems across diverse premises.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation, servicing, and maintenance of a wide range of systems, including:

    • CCTV
    • Access control
    • Fire detection
    • Intruder alarms
    • ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition)
    • IP-based technologies
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, ensuring safe working practices are adhezred to at all times.

  • Listen, learn, and act—carefully follow instructions from senior engineers and supervisors with accuracy and initiative.

Training & Support Provided

This apprenticeship is your pathway to skill-upselling with a blend of hands-on training and industry expertise:

  • Your training is delivered by Skills for Security, specialists in fire and security training.
  • One week of block release training at our Glasgow centre every eight weeks (Tuesday–Friday).
  • You'll work towards achieving a Level 3 Fire, Emergency & Security Systems Technician qualification, recognised nationally.
