The Role: Fire, Emergency & Security Systems Apprentice
Our Fire, Emergency & Security Systems Apprenticeship programme offers a structured path to develop your technical skills while working alongside experienced engineers. As an apprentice, you’ll assist with the installation, maintenance, and fault-finding of key systems across diverse premises.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with the installation, servicing, and maintenance of a wide range of systems, including:
- CCTV
- Access control
- Fire detection
- Intruder alarms
- ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition)
- IP-based technologies

Follow all health and safety procedures, ensuring safe working practices are adhezred to at all times.

Listen, learn, and act—carefully follow instructions from senior engineers and supervisors with accuracy and initiative.

Attend college as required and remain committed to successfully completing the Fire, Emergency & Security Systems (FESS) Apprenticeship.

Training & Support Provided
This apprenticeship is your pathway to skill-upselling with a blend of hands-on training and industry expertise:
- Your training is delivered by Skills for Security, specialists in fire and security training.
- One week of block release training at our Glasgow centre every eight weeks (Tuesday–Friday).
- You'll work towards achieving a Level 3 Fire, Emergency & Security Systems Technician qualification, recognised nationally.
