Police Community Support Officer (PCSO)
Help us build safer, stronger communities across Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire. We’re looking for people who care about making a difference.
The main purpose of the role is to work within identified communities to enhance safer neighbourhoods and provide reassurance in order to reduce both crime and the fear of crime.
This recruitment is to build a pipeline of candidates for a February 2027 intake. We will align successful candidates to the specific vacancies that are available at that time. Should we not have a vacancy in a suitable location, we will keep you on hold until we do.
Please ensure that you upload the relevant proof of qualifications and pictures of tattoos to your online application. We will not be able to progress your application if you do not provide this.
This role requires a full manual driving licence.
In order to ensure resilience and to reflect the significant training investment, the post of PCSO is subject to a minimum two year tenure period. This means you will be unable to apply for any internal vacancies for a period of two years from the commencement of your appointment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
