  • Salary: £43,090 – £46,500
  • Flexibility: Full-time, part-time, job share, or flexible working hours possible.
  • Location: Darlington (Feethams House) only.

About The Team

The Securities and Markets Team crafts and executes policy to enhance the competitiveness, regulation, and efficiency of the UK’s financial markets, driving economic growth. Our work spans:

  • Formulating legal frameworks for investment bankers, traders, and market practices.
  • Ensuring the UK remains a top choice for UK and overseas companies looking to list.
  • Collaboration with HM Treasury, regulators (FCA and Bank of England), global stakeholders, and industry experts.

The team thrives on high-paced decision-making, delivering high-profile advice to Ministers. Personal growth is prioritised—select projects tailored to your goals.

About The Job

You’ll take on a high-impact, autonomous policy role, advancing expertise in digital asset modernisation.

Your responsibilities:

  • Drive the execution of the Wholesale Financial Markets Digital Strategy (published July 2025)—ensuring UK markets lead in digitalisation, innovation, and global competitiveness.
  • Emerge as the go-to expert on settlement and digital assets/tokenisation, aligning policy with HM Treasury’s agenda, including the UK Digital Securities Sandbox.
  • Oversee reforms via secondary legislation, working with legal advisors.
  • Prepare Ministerial advice, address risks, and liaise with senior stakeholders.
  • Track global and technological developments in digital assets, synthesising insights into market strategies.
  • Engage stakeholders—regulators (FCA, BoE) and industry leaders—on digital market policymaking.
  • Develop messages for speeches, lead briefings, manage correspondence, and navigate Parliament.

We seek analytical, adaptable professionals capable of:

  • Building strong networks internally and externally, collaborating across diverse backgrounds.
  • Evaluating complex information, spotting potential risks/trends that may disrupt work.
  • Distilling highly technical topics—such as decentralised ledger technology or central securities depositories—into easy-to-follow communications.
