We are thrilled to announce a major contract win with Southern Water! We are recruiting for a number of Pollution Response Technicians, covering the whole of Kent. This is a fantastic opportunity to start a new career with us here at Lanes Group!

About the Role
In this critical role, we ensure our organisation is renowned for being the best-practice leader in quality, compliance, and fulfilment—regardless of tasks. It’s about leaving a legacy of excellence, keeping promises, and operational reliability.
As a Pollution Response Technician, you will work 24/7, with flexible hours, weekend work, and an on-call rota. Full training, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and company equipment will be provided to ensure every engineer possesses the right skill set to meet Lanes Group’s high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities
- First response to all pollution-related incidents/jobs raised, ensuring rapid deployment and intervention.
- Oversee and supervise all aspects of pollution incident management, ensuring safe, efficient, and effective recovery.
- Initiate immediate mitigation to minimise environmental and wildlife impact from pollution incidents.
- Lead investigations to determine the root cause of pollution.
- Plan and facilitate ongoing mitigation, follow-up works, remediation, and restoration of affected services.
- Facilitate external contractors for pollution remediation and landscape restoration, ensuring restoration to an agreed standard.
- Capturing evidence through high-quality data and imagery in our case management system to support investigations and justify resolution outcomes.
- Deliver outstanding customer service while managing relationships with Southern Water, the Environment Agency, and local authorities.
- Maintain a zero compromise approach to Health & Safety in all activities.
- Carry out rigorous risk assessments, prioritizing a mature risk perception in all working environments.
- Uphold Lanes Group policies, adherence, and accountability in all operations.
- Adapt to intuitive requests from management as required to resolve incidents effectively.
Position Details
- Location: Tonbridge Depot (Tonbridge, Kent)
- Employment Type: Permanent, full-time
- Hour Pattern: 5 days on, 2 days off (may include weekends)
- Weekly Hours: 45
- Salary: £30,500 per annum

Requirements
We’re looking for customer-focused individuals who thrive on problem-solving, outdoor work, and delivering consistent value. If you possess the following qualities, we’d love to grow together:
- Proactive and engaged with a no-nonsense attitude to resolving challenges efficiently.
- Commitment to maintaining strict health and safety standards.
- UK driver’s licence (required for location-specific fieldwork).
- Ability to diagnose issues quickly and deliver practical, high-quality solutions.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with high-pressure jetting equipment (highly advantageous).
- NRSWA (National River Services Water Association) drainage qualifications.
- Confined spaces accreditation (optional but beneficial).
