The Opportunity

Position: Pollution Response Technician Location: Millbrook Depot, Southampton, Hampshire Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Hours: 5 days on, 2 days off (45 hours per week) Salary: £30,500 per annum On-Call Rotas: Required due to 24/7 operational needs

Lanes Group covers costs for training, personal protective equipment (PPE), and provides all necessary company tools. This critical role requires managing pollution incidents efficiently while upholding the company's reputation for quality and adherence to compliance.

  • Primary response: Speedily address all pollution incidents/jobs raised.
  • Incident overseeing: Direct and supervise pollution sites to ensure safe, efficient, and effective incident management.
  • Emergency mitigation: Take immediate action to reduce environmental impact and protect wildlife.
  • Root cause investigation: Lead investigations to determine the source of pollution.
  • Planning and resolving: Organise ongoing mitigation measures or follow-up work to return systems to normal.
  • Contractor facilitation: Coordinate specialised contractors for remediation works to restore affected utilities.
  • Compliance and adherence: Ensure adherence to H&S protocols, accurately capture all evidence, and maintain meticulous data and image records in Big Change.
  • Stakeholder management: Deliver exceptional customer service while liaising with clients, the Environment Agency, and local authorities.
  • Risk assessment: Be proficient in conducting risk assessments and make informed decisions regarding safety.
  • Policy awareness: Ensure you are fully aware of the Lanes Group policies and your specific responsibilities under them.

Tech Savviness and Cultural Fit: While prior experience with high-pressure jetting equipment delivers an edge, it’s not mandatory. Any related drainage certifications (e.g., NRSWA, Confined Spaces) are advantageous.

  • Greek Compliancy*: You must hold a full UK driver’s licence.
