Pollution Response Technician – Southern Water Contract (Hampshire)
We are recruiting for Pollution Response Technicians across Hampshire as part of a major contract win with Southern Water. This is an exciting opportunity to launch a new career with Lanes Group, a leading specialist infrastructure partner, supporting targeted growth across the utility sector.

For the Pollution Response Technician role, 24/7 operability is required, including weekend shifts and on-call rotations. Full training, PPE, and use of company equipment will be provided to empower every technician to deliver against Lanes’ strict operational standards.
The Role
Key Responsibilities
This vital position ensures effective pollution response, managing all stages of an incident from onset to resolution:
- First response to all pollution-related incidents and escalations.
- Supervisor & on-site manager of pollution sites, overseeing safe, efficient, and high-standard resolution.
- Emergency mitigation to minimise environmental impact, aiming for rapid restoration of services.
- Root-cause analysis to identify and prevent future incidents.
- Coordinate follow-on remediation works, overseeing external contractors and securing ASAP restoration.
- Data & evidence collection using "Big Change" systems to support incident investigations or substantiate lack of pollution.
- Stakeholder liaison with clients (Southern Water), the Environment Agency, and local authorities, prioritising world-class customer service.
- No-compromise Health & Safety compliance – conducting risk assessments and demonstrating mature risk awareness.
- Ensure adherence to Lanes Group policies and proactively contribute to operational safety.
- Additional ad-hoc duties as directed by leadership.

Location, Salary & Structure
- Location: Millbrook Depot (Southampton, Hampshire).
- Job Type: Full-time permanent.
- Shift Pattern: 5 days on, 2 off (35-hour weeks, with some weekend shifts required).
- Starting Salary: £30,500 per annum.

About You
Our ideal candidates express: ✔ Hard-working, proactive, and solution-focused mindset. ✔ A strong respect for Health & Safety, with an ability to assess risks maturely. ✔ First-aid incident handling skills (frauds, thefts) alongside core problem-solving and customer empathetic engagement. ✔ Own transport – a full UK driving licence is mandatory.
Preference & Advantages
- Experience with (but not essential for): High Pressure Jetting Equipment.
- Hold a valid NRSWA or confined spaces certification (lateral movement discouraged; certification training offered).
