Port Trucking Night Dispatcher
Job Description
Mid Lane Carriers is a local drayage trucking company located in the city of Wilmington, CA. We have operated for 6 years and have a fleet of 20+ trucks. Our primary focus is local deliveries, within 100 miles from the ports of LA/LB. We are looking for potential candidates to join our growing company.
Mid Lane Carriers is looking for a reliable and dependable full-time Night Dispatcher. This individual must be reliable and confident in their ability to dispatch drivers and schedule containers. The perfect candidate must be experienced with all terminals, making terminal appointments, routing drivers to the correct terminal/delivery location, coordinating deliveries, knowledge of per diem, and demurrage and minimizing dry runs to terminals/deliveries. We are looking for an individual that is self-motivated and looking to grow with our team. The schedule for this position is Monday-Thursday from 3:00pm-1:00am.
Qualification
The ideal candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, have strong organizational skills, work independently, possess great communication skills, take initiative, and have attention to detail.
Requirements
- 3+ years in port trucking
- Ability to schedule and trace containers
- Dispatch and monitor drivers
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Uses good judgment in making decisions in emergency and routine situations
- Excellent organization and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to effectively interpret contract rules and requirements
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communications and organizational skills
- Must have a pleasing personality and ability to get along with adults
- Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of personalities in situations requiring diplomacy, friendliness, confidentiality, poise, tact, and good judgment
- Proficient in Spanish (not required, but a huge plus)

Duties
You will perform various tasks, including and not limited to:
- Securing appointments with the terminals for empty terminations and/or import load outs when requested or missed loads
- Scheduling deliveries with customers
- Assisting drivers with any issues
- Emailing customers
- Monitoring containers at the port
- Updating excel, scanning, filing
- Various office duties and assistance
- Scheduling drivers to make freight deliveries/terminal
- Communicating with customers about freight details, delivery or pickup times, and special handling requests
- Planning pre-determined routes and accommodating route changes as needed
- Maintaining records of dispatched calls, driver routes, route changes, as well as delivery and pickup times
