About The Role

Are you a reliable, caring and hands-on individual who enjoys making a real difference behind the scenes in healthcare? We're looking for a Porter to join our hospital team, playing a vital role in ensuring patients, supplies and departments are supported safely and efficiently. As a key member of the team, you'll help create a positive patient experience while keeping hospital operations running smoothly.

Rotating shifts

  • 7am-3pm
  • 9am-5pm
  • 11am-7pm
  • Saturday shifts expected 1 in every 3 weeks

What you'll be doing

  • Safely escorting and supporting patients throughout the hospital, including admissions, theatres, diagnostics and discharge.
  • Transporting equipment, stock, medical records and other essential items across departments.
  • Ordering, receiving and distributing linen supplies, including unloading and checking deliveries, topping up stock levels and collecting dirty linen.
  • Carrying out specimen collections throughout the day.
  • Accepting deliveries and ensuring goods are stored safely and appropriately.
  • Following infection prevention, manual handling, health and safety and data protection procedures at all times.
  • Supporting colleagues across the hospital to maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for patients and visitors.
  • Contributing to quality improvement initiatives, audits and ongoing service development.

What we'll look for in you

  • A good standard of education with strong literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Previous experience in a porter, facilities, healthcare support or customer-facing role.
  • Excellent communication skills and a friendly, professional approach.
  • A caring, compassionate attitude with the ability to support patients respectfully and sensitively.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
  • The ability to work independently while also being a valued team player.
  • A flexible, positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop within the role.
  • An understanding of customer care, health and safety and the importance of confidentiality within a healthcare environment.
