About This Role
New Hall School is seeking to appoint a Porter, to work as part of a team of Operations staff involved in the upkeep, care and development of the School site, including its residential properties. Porters report to the Head of Operations and carry out tasks required to ensure the smooth operation of the School.
The Operations Department Consists Of The Following Areas:
- Catering (externally contracted)
- School Cafés (externally contracted)
- Laundry
- Cleaning (internally and externally contracted)
- Transport
- Sport Facilities
- Events
- Residential Properties
Key Responsibilities:
- to support the distribution, collection and transportation of deliveries, parcels, equipment, furniture, laundry and lost property across the School site
- to provide a professional and welcoming service to students, staff, parents and visitors, assisting with Reception and visitor management procedures
- to ensure compliance with safeguarding, security and health & safety requirements, including issuing visitor passes and monitoring site access
- to assist with traffic management, parking arrangements and vehicle speed monitoring to maintain a safe School environment
- to maintain School vehicles and buggies, ensuring they are clean, charged, safe and fully operational
- to support the set-up, clear-down and logistical requirements of School events, functions and lettings, including signage and equipment arrangements
- to participate in site security duties, including building opening and locking, fire alarm response, contractor supervision and critical incident support
- to maintain high standards of cleanliness across indoor and outdoor areas through cleaning, waste management, litter collection and emergency cleaning duties
- to carry out minor repairs, basic maintenance tasks and equipment upkeep, whilst attending relevant training, meetings and undertaking other duties as required by the School

- to have experience of working as part of a team
- to have good communication and organisational skills
- to demonstrate the ability to work efficiently and accurately, with a keen eye for detail
- to possess basic IT skills
- to maintain a professional manner, including responding to telephone enquiries
- to demonstrate the ability to prioritise tasks
- to understand the importance of promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children
- to demonstrate a friendly and approachable demeanour
- to exercise discretion and sensitivity
- to show willingness to participate enthusiastically in School life
- to relate effectively to a wide range of people
- to demonstrate flexibility when adapting to change and development

New Hall School offers an exceptional working environment. The main campus occupies the stunning Grade I listed former Tudor palace of Beaulieu. The School’s conference and events venue is at the Grade I listed Boreham House, one mile away. New Hall is a warm, welcoming, and supportive community, with a staff of around 300.
Beaulieu Park railway station is at the entrance to New Hall’s Avenue: 30 minutes to Stratford and 38 minutes to London Liverpool Street. The Elizabeth Line at Shenfield (13 minutes by train) terminates at Heathrow airport. There are nearby airports: London Stansted, London Southend and London City.
