Role Overview

We are looking for a commercially driven Portfolio Analyst to play a critical role in shaping underwriting performance through deep analytical insight and real-time portfolio intelligence.

Sitting at the centre of underwriting, pricing, reserving and claims, this role focuses on understanding what is driving performance today and ensuring those insights directly influence underwriting decisions tomorrow.

A key priority is building near real-time visibility of portfolio performance, including automated views of loss emergence and IBNR, enabling faster and more informed decision-making.

Role Responsibilities

  • Develop a best-in-class performance attribution framework across classes, segments, underwriting years and distribution sources.
  • Analyse and communicate pricing adequacy vs actual performance, including risk-adjusted rate change.
  • Implement near-live portfolio monitoring incorporating automated IBNR and loss emergence signals.
  • Lead large loss reviews and ensure rapid feedback into underwriting, claims, and broker engagement.
  • Identify trends in short and long-tailed lines and translate into pricing, reserving and underwriting insight.
  • Partner with underwriting and pricing teams to challenge assumptions and improve decisions.
  • Feed insights into business planning, capital allocation and portfolio strategy.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
