Portfolio Finance & Reporting Analyst
Corporate Grade: D – Assistant Vice President Location: UK-London Worker Type: Permanent
Standard scheduled hours: 40 hours per week (UK)
About the Role
The Portfolio Management Office within The LME Group oversees governance for all group business and technology change delivery, including multi-year delivery plans and budgeting. This role will provide financial and analytical support across a portfolio worth ~$70 million, ensuring:
- Accurate financial tracking, reporting, and insights
- Effective decision-making and resource allocation
- Alignment of finance, data analysis, and portfolio management to drive value
The Portfolio Finance & Reporting Analyst is a critical bridging function between finance, data, and project/organisational strategy.
Responsibilities
1. Portfolio Finance & Reporting
- Lead the monthly forecasting and reporting cycle, ensuring:
- Accuracy
- Timeliness
- Completeness
- Produce insightful variance analysis to support senior stakeholders in decision-making
- Collaborate on annual budgeting, prioritisation, and planning processes
- Support month-end close, focusing on:
- Accrual accuracy
- Correct journal postings
- Appropriate cost allocations
- Uphold financial controls, governance standards, and audit compliance
2. Data Analysis & Insight
- Ensure a single source of truth for portfolio financial and project data
- Champion data integrity, consistency, and standardisation across tools
- Build trust in reporting through transparency, auditability, and traceability
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting using:
- Power BI (core)
- Power Query and Excel (advanced)
- (SQL experience desirable)
- Provide actionable insights for portfolio prioritisation and performance monitoring

3. Project & Portfolio Support
- Work closely with Project Managers to support:
- Financial planning
- Tracking
- Forecasting
- Offer guidance on accruals, capitalisation, and financial governance throughout project lifecycle
- Assist in project initiation, including:
- Financial setup
- Funding drawdowns
- Cost tracking
- Facilitate portfolio governance and reporting aligned with PMO frameworks
- Conduct financial health checks (in conjunction with PMO) for programmes
4. Process & Tool Development
- Establish and continuously improve repeatable processes for portfolio financial management
- Drive automation of manual processes using:
- Power Automate
- VBA/macros
- Reporting automation
- Optimise PPM tools and data integration for efficiency
Qualifications & Requirements
Academic & Professional Requirements
- Preferred but not essential: Part-qualified or fully-qualified accounting certification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Proof of continued professional development (e.g., data/analytics certifications like Power BI)
- Practical experience in financial or portfolio/project accounting, ideally in:
- Change, technology, or PMO environments
- Familiarity with:
- Financial systems
- PPM/portfolio reporting tools
- Practical application of financial accounting principles

Essential Knowledge & Experience
- Core accounting expertise:
- Accruals
- Prepayments
- Cost allocation
- P&L and forecasting
- 4–7+ years of experience in:
- Financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting
- (in change, technology, or project-driven environments)
- Advanced technical skills:
- Excel (data modelling and transformation via Power Query)
- Dashboard and report building
- Experience with PPM tools (e.g., Clarity, Planview, Monday.com, Project Online)
- Analytical ability:
- Interpret and communicate complex data
- Industry-fit experience:
- Change, transformation, or technology-driven environments
- Stakeholder management:
- Coach across Finance, PMO, and Delivery teams
Desirable Qualifications
- SQL or data querying language experience
- Automation tool experience (Power Automate, VBA)
- Understanding of capital expense (CapEx) vs. operating expense (OpEx) treatment
