Location: London
Salary: £47k - £50k DOE + Bonus (c£20k Depending on event performance)

Ark Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a leading international conference and events organisation in their search for an experienced Portfolio Manager to join their growing production team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven events professional to take ownership of a high-value conference portfolio across sectors including Defence, Security, Energy, Utilities, Aviation, and Pharmaceuticals. Combining strategic portfolio management, conference production, market intelligence, and revenue growth initiatives, this role offers the opportunity to shape the direction of an established event portfolio while identifying new commercial opportunities and driving long-term growth.

Reporting to the Head of Production, the successful candidate will play a key role in scaling portfolio revenue, launching new events, developing strategic industry partnerships, and delivering market-leading conferences that connect senior decision-makers from around the world.

The Role

As a Portfolio Manager, you will act as the subject matter expert for your designated portfolio, taking responsibility for both the commercial performance and long-term strategic development of your events.

You'll oversee the production of high-quality conferences while identifying new launch opportunities, revenue streams, geographic expansion opportunities, and innovative event formats. Working closely with senior stakeholders across the business, you'll help define the future direction of your portfolio and implement growth strategies designed to increase revenue and market share year-on-year.

This is a highly visible role requiring strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, relationship-building skills, and a deep understanding of B2B conference production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of one or more conference portfolios, driving growth, innovation, and long-term commercial success
  • Research, write, and produce approximately 4–6 business conferences annually, including Large Scale Events (LSEs)
  • Develop high-quality conference agendas aligned with market demand, industry challenges, and commercial objectives
  • Identify, validate, and launch new conference concepts, event formats, and commercially viable growth opportunities
  • Work with the Head of Production to assess conference viability and develop strategies to scale existing products and launch new events
  • Drive portfolio growth with a target of increasing revenue year-on-year through strategic event development and audience expansion
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior industry leaders, government representatives, military stakeholders, international organisations, and key commercial partners
  • Secure and manage high-profile speakers, chairs, strategic partners, and primary market attendees
  • Take ownership of audience development strategies, ensuring key organisations, decision-makers, and target markets are represented at events
  • Lead post-production conference campaigns in collaboration with Sales, Sponsorship, and Marketing teams to maximise event performance and revenue generation
  • Identify and execute additional revenue streams across the portfolio, including partnerships, new event formats, and complementary products
  • Track revenue performance, audience composition, and commercial KPIs to ensure portfolio objectives are achieved
  • Conduct portfolio reviews, event debriefs, and growth planning initiatives to continuously improve event performance
  • Identify opportunities to expand portfolios into new geographies, markets, and industry sectors
  • Support sponsors throughout the production cycle, helping align content, audience delivery, and commercial objectives
  • Maintain a strong understanding of competitor activity, market developments, and emerging trends
  • Represent the business at industry events, trade shows, and international conferences to build brand presence and identify future opportunities
  • Champion the adoption of AI technologies and innovative production processes to improve efficiency and drive data-led decision making
  • Contribute to year-round audience engagement initiatives through editorial content, industry insights, newsletters, and community-building activities
  • Mentor and support junior members of the production team, setting standards and sharing best practice across the department

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
