Postal Delivery Driver (Postie) – Delivery Office, Slough (SL1 1AA)
Location: Slough, SL1 1AA Job Type: Fixed-term contract (6 months) Salary: £13.68 per hour (+ paid overtime available) – paid monthly Working Hours: 30 hours per week, rotating shifts 5 days every 7 (Mon–Sun), 7:45–13:45 or 8:45–14:45
The Role
Royal Mail is looking for a delicate, reliable Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to join our Slough office and connect with your community while delivering essential services. You’ll be the trusted face of Royal Mail, handling letters, parcels, and moments that matter—like exam results and special deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort letters and parcels at the Slough Delivery Office
- Auto an on-foot deliveries to local customers
- Build strong customer relationships in your community
- Work outdoors in all weather, delivering efficiently and safely

What You’ll Experience
This is a fast-paced, outdoor role with high physical demands:
- Walking up to 12 miles daily (≈ 20,000+ steps)
- Daily driving of a Royal Mail van (must pass assessment)
- All-weather working, from scorching heat to icy rain
- Time-sensitive deliveries, especially during wartime
- A mix of routine and variety, ensuring no two days are the same
You’ll be delivering everything from letters to high-value parcels, and with a schedule including 1 Sunday in 4, you’ll truly be the lifeline of the community.
About You
We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and a free red Royal Mail van. We’re looking for:
✔ A full UK manual driving licence (up to 6 penalty points, current address and name on licence) ✔ Ability to pass a Royal Mail driving assessment ✔ Fit, agile, and comfortable with walking long distances, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 10kg+ mailbags ✔ Reliability and self-motivation to work independently ✔ Strong organisation skills and resilience in a busy, fast-paced environment ✔ Customer-focused with pride in excellent service delivery ✔ Ability to work outdoors and individually without supervision
