Royal Mail - Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) | Orton Southgate, Peterborough
Location: Orton Southgate Delivery Office, PE2 6BZ Job Type: Permanent contract Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available Working Hours: 37 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 (Mon-Sun, 07:15-20:00)

What You’ll Be Doing
- Sorting letters and parcels at the delivery office
- Driving a Royal Mail van and delivering mail on foot in your neighbourhood
- Building relationships with customers and communities
- Operating outdoors in all weather conditions

What to Expect
This is a physically demanding and fast-paced role requiring:
- Walking up to 12 miles per day (equating to 20,000+ steps)
- Daily driving of a Royal Mail van
- Delivering in all weather, including incidents and peaks (e.g., exam results, postal strikes)
- High-volume parcel and letter handling under time pressure
Expect busy, purposeful days, especially during Christmas, major events, and election periods.
About You
Royal Mail provides training, a uniform, and a red van—but you’ll need:
✔ A full manual UK driving licence (current, ≤6 penalty points) registered to your address and name* ✔ Ability to drive a Royal Mail van and pass an internal assessment ✔ Physical fitness to walk long distances, climb stairs, and lift/transport up to 10kg mailbags ✔ Reliability and strong self-motivation ✔ Organisational skills and resilience in a high-pressure environment ✔ A customer-friendly mindset with pride in exceptional service ✔ Comfort working outdoors, independently, and at all times of day (including evenings and weekends)
