Postal Delivery Driver (Postie) – Fixed Term Contract (6 Months) – Chippenham, SN14 6EX
Location & Hours
Location: Royal Mail Delivery Office, Chippenham, SN14 6EX
- Job Type: Fixed-term contract (6 months), potentially renewable
- Hours: 32.5 hours per week (5 days in a 7-day rotation)
- Rota: Mon–Fri: 07:32–14:32, Sat: 07:27–14:27, Sun: 09:00–16:00
- Requirements:
- Must work at least 1 Sunday in every 4
- Duty to cover other offices in the area if needed

What to Expect
This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:
- Walking up to 12 miles a day (~20,000+ steps)
- Daily commuting by Royal Mail van (passing daily checks & having a clean driving record*)
- All-weather working – rain, sun, wind, and snow
- High volume deliveries – busy mornings and even busier peak periods
About You
We’ll train you and equip you with a uniform & iconic red van. To succeed, you’ll need:
✅ Full manual driving licence (UK-registered, max 6 penalty points) ✅ Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily & pass our driving assessment ✅ Physical fitness and comfort with:
- Walking uphill/stairs (climbing inclines to get mail)
- Handling 10kg/22lb bags+ repeatedly
- Weather conditions (heatwave, freezing rain, heavy snow) ✅ Self-motivated & reliable, able to thrive independently ✅ Customer-focused attitude, proud to deliver exceptional service ✅ Resilience, organisation & strength in a dynamic environment

Applicant Note
Roles over 35–37 hrs/week are ‘full-time’ but still get minimum part-time benefits. Fixed-term let you try us out!
