Job Overview

We are looking for a dynamic individual to provide a high quality, proactive and professional postal service, based at Southmead Hospital.

Ideally, you will have a strong work ethic and be a real team player, ensuring that the service operates efficiently. All training will be provided.

Responsible for sorting, delivering and collecting post for all wards and departments within Bristol Foundation NHS Trust, acting in a caring and professional manner and working in line with the Facilities and departmental operating procedures.

This is a physical role, involving long periods of standing and walking to all locations across the hospital. You will be undertaking physically moving roll cages and trollies as part of your daily activities.

As part of this position, there is a requirement to be able to use the Trust vehicle to deliver across the wider site (retained estates). Therefore, a clean, full UK driving license is absolutely required for applicants to be considered.

The successful applicant will be well organised and have good timekeeping skills. Applicants need to be able to use their own initiative and be able to work within agreed guidelines.

To be successful in this role, you will need numerical skills and a good attention to detail. Computer use is also required as part of this role, and you will need knowledge of Word and Excel.

The shift pattern is working Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00.

  • Sort incoming post from Royal Mail
  • Distribute incoming mail (letters, parcels, flyers, etc.) across the Southmead Hospital site (Brunel building and the Retained Estate)
  • Collect all outgoing post from the wards/departments
  • Prepare and frank outgoing mail accordingly to the class/postage required
  • Frank post under relevant account for internal recharge
  • Answer telephone and respond to inquiries as appropriate
  • Complete job-related reports/paperwork daily, ensuring accuracy of information recorded
  • Undertake regular stock checks
  • Ensuring that correct and safe methods of work are always employed
  • Deliver and collect post to the retained estate areas
