Role Description
The Postdoctoral Research Associate (GRADE 7, £39,906 - £46,049 pa) is a full-time (30 month contract), on-site role based in Liverpool. The position involves to characterize biodistribution, dissipation, and efficacy of long-acting drugs. Funded by a multi-million-pound EPSRC grant to establish a world-leading UK Hub for Advanced Long Acting Therapeutics (HALo), this work will involve multimodal imaging including MRI and MPI in rodent models to assess long-acting drugs.
The role includes:
- Maintaining laboratory standards
- Documenting methodologies and results
- Preparing manuscripts for publication
- Presenting findings at seminars, conferences, and internal meetings
The associate will collaborate with academic staff, graduate students, and external partners, contribute to grant applications, and support teaching activities such as tutorials, supervision of students, and occasional laboratory demonstrations. The role also requires staying current with developments in the discipline and contributing to the broader research environment of the University.
Qualifications
- Completed or near-completion of a PhD in physics or Biological Sciences or a closely related discipline.
- Experience in mammalian cell culture and small animal in vivo imaging.
- Experience using state-of-the-art imaging software, image processing using Matlab or similar image processing platforms is desirable.
- Competence in data analysis, including statistical methods, quantitative modeling, and the use of appropriate software tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, R or similar).
- Strong research skills, including experience in designing studies, conducting experiments, and contributing to peer-reviewed publications.
- Proficiency in laboratory skills relevant to physics or a closely related discipline, including safe and effective use of equipment and adherence to laboratory protocols.
- Solid grounding in imaging physics or a related field, with the ability to apply theoretical and experimental knowledge to complex research questions.
- Experience in teaching or supporting learning, such as delivering tutorials, supervising students, or assisting in laboratory classes.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to varied audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively in diverse, multidisciplinary teams and manage research tasks independently.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with a commitment to research integrity and ethical practice.
- Willingness to engage in grant writing, outreach, and professional development activities that support the University’s research mission.
