The Role

The postdoctoral research associate will conduct research in knowledge representation, knowledge graphs, ontologies, and neurosymbolic AI within the GUARD project, developing open-source methods for knowledge graph validation using OWL integrity constraints and Datalog reasoning. The role includes creating evaluation datasets, publishing and presenting research, collaborating with partners including The Alan Turing Institute and Dstl, and supporting knowledge graph interoperability, ontology alignment, benchmarking, and the project's long-term sustainability.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Hold a PhD (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline, with a strong publication record in Knowledge Graphs and AI.
  • Bring experience in Knowledge Graphs, Ontologies, Semantic Web, or related technologies, alongside software development skills in a mainstream programming language.
  • Ability to conduct independent research, communicate complex technical concepts, collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and produce high-quality publications, reports, and stakeholder engagement outcomes.

Job Details

  • Type: Permanent subject to fixed-term funding for 12 months.
  • Funding: The role is funded through external research funding. Continued employment in this role will therefore be subject to the continuation or replacement of funding.
  • Closing Date: 17 July 2026 at 11:59pm.
