Postgre Developer with ETL expertise
London/Hybrid
Contract
We are Hiring highly skilled PostgreSQL Developer with extensive experience in DB2 to PostgreSQL migration, AWS-based ETL development, and data modernization initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in PostgreSQL development, schema rationalization, data modelling, ETL frameworks, and AWS migration services such as AWS DMS and AWS Glue.
Your responsibilities
The role will be responsible for transforming legacy DB2 databases into optimized PostgreSQL solutions on AWS while ensuring data integrity, performance, scalability, and compliance with enterprise architecture standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end DB2 to PostgreSQL migration activities including assessment, schema conversion, data migration, validation, and cutover planning.
- Design, develop, and support PostgreSQL databases, including tables, views, indexes, functions, triggers, and stored procedures.
- Perform table rationalization, normalization, and schema optimization to improve data quality, performance, and maintainability.
- Support conceptual, logical, and physical data modelling activities in collaboration with architects and business stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain ETL pipelines using AWS Glue and implement Change Data Capture (CDC) solutions using AWS DMS.
- Analyze and transform source DB2 data structures into optimized target PostgreSQL data models.
- Convert and optimize DB2 Stored Procedures, SQL PL scripts, triggers, and batch processing logic into PostgreSQL PL/pgSQL.
- Conduct data mapping, reconciliation, and validation activities to ensure migration completeness and data integrity.
- Perform query tuning, database performance optimization, indexing, and capacity planning for PostgreSQL environments.
- Collaborate with application, data, and infrastructure teams to resolve migration and integration challenges.
- Support SIT, UAT, and Production deployment activities, including defect resolution and post-migration stabilization.
- Create technical documentation, migration runbooks, design specifications, and operational procedures.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise architecture, security, governance, and data management standards.
- Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership throughout migration and modernization initiatives.

- Database Performance Tuning and Query Optimization
