About the Role
A Delivery Postie with Driving is responsible for:
- Delivering mail and parcels securely along designated routes in the community
- Handling sensitive items, including election materials and specific high-value products (food or alcohol) in compliance with Royal Mail’s standards
- Working independently in various weather conditions to ensure timely and reliable deliveries
- Demonstrating professionalism and courtesy to customers and team members
- Using driving as part of route operations where required
Responsibilities
As a Delivery Postie with Driving, you’ll:
- Complete fixed postal delivery objectives efficiently and safely
- Be available to work Sundays through a rota system to meet demand
- Operate a delivery vehicle when assigned to route duties
- Ensure no customer complaints by delivering exceptional, reliable service
- Assist with maintaining cleanliness and safety on your delivery route, including lifting up to 23 kg (this task is reduced to 11 kg if hub stacking support is available)
- Handle and deliver special items including election materials and sensitive products
- Stay up-to-date with Royal Mail requirements, legislation, compliance needs, and business standards
- Maintain high awareness of your surroundings while cycling/walking and driving
- Contribute to fixed objectives within a point-to-point or zone route
- Support team culture with team-building activities and social interaction

Requirements
Someone happy in this role is likely to be:
- Upbeat, independent, and self-motivated
- Organised, punctual and ready to deliver excellent customer service
- People-focused – someone who enjoys connecting with others
- Happy to work outside in any weather for long periods
- Able to lift up to 23 kg (standard duty), or 11 kg if hub stacking support is provided
- Holding a full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points

- Guaranteed rate of £13.06 per hour (paid monthly and adjusted to working hours)
- Enhanced overtime rate of 1.25 times regular pay for any hours over 40 a week

Note Regarding Employment Hours: For candidate recruitment purposes, roles with 35–40 hours/week are classified as full-time, but any role under 40 hours will be classified as part-time in the employment contract.
