Royal Mail Postie (Postal Delivery Driver)
Location: Glossop Delivery Office, SK13 8AA
Job Type: Fixed-term contract (XX months)
Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available Working Hours: 30 hours per week. Rotating schedule between Monday – Sunday, working shifts inclusive of some Sundays.

What You’ll Do
- Sort and organise letters and parcels at the delivery office
- Deliver post both by van and on foot in your local area
- Build meaningful relationships with neighbours and community members
- Work outdoors under varied weather conditions
You manage much more than letters—exam results, holiday cards, business parcels, and letters that hold deep personal significance all reach people through your hands. It can be tough, but it’s always meaningful.

What To Expect
This position is physically demanding and fast-paced:
- Walking up to 12 miles per day (~20,000+ steps)
- Driving a Royal Mail van daily
- Operating outside regardless of weather
- Delivering volumes of mail including letters and high-priority parcels
- Handling busy and sometimes pressured deadlines, especially during peak periods
About You
We’ll provide full training, uniform and a Royal Mail vehicle. To qualify, you’ll need:
- A full UK manual driving licence (with no more than 6 penalty points), registered to your current name and address
- Capability to pass a successful driving assessment
- Fitness to cover: walking long distances, climbing hills/stairs and lifting/carrying mailbags up to 10kg+
- Reliability, self-motivation and resilience
- Strong organisation skills for a fast-paced environment
- Pride in delivering exceptional customer service with friendly, professional engagement

Note: Roles with 30–37 hours/week are listed as contractally part-time, even if described as ‘30-hour’ in the role posting.
Additional Responsibility: As a Postie in this line of work, you’ll secure deliveries to ensure ballots, mail, and, where required, health-contingent items (including food and alcohol) meet HM Business Standards.
