Royal Mail Parcel Delivery Driver
Job reference: 338279
Location: North Shields Delivery Office, NE29 8YY
Job type: Fixed Term contract (ending March 2027)
About the Role
Royal Mail is reinventing itself for the future—now is the perfect time to join us!
As a Parcel Delivery Driver, you’ll be part of a team that delivers billions of items annually, come rain or shine. You’ll do more than just drive: tackle multi-drop deliveries, utilise route-planning technology, and ensure parcels (and sometimes volatile items like election materials, food, or alcohol) reach their destination on time. Most importantly, you’ll deliver not just parcels, but joy—for customers every single day.
Your Responsibilities
- Prepare vans and daily workloads efficiently using planning tools.
- Drive safely across North Shields, delivering parcels in a multi-drop role (Mon–Sun).
- Work with Royal Mail technology and business standards.
- Operate between 08:15–17:00 (adjusted for Sunday: 11:00–17:00).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
