Royal Mail’s Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) – Fix Term Contract

Location: Seacroft Delivery Office, LS14 2SD

Job Type & Details

  • Position: Fixed Term Contract (xx months)
  • Salary: £13.68/hour* (monthly, paid bi-weekly) + paid overtime available
  • Hours: 30 hours per week, spread X days across Monday–Sunday (08:00 or 14:00 / 14:00 or 20:00 rotations)

About the Role

We’re serious about keeping Leeds moving. As a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver), you’ll be the trusted face of Royal Mail: sorting letters, driving our iconic vans, and meeting customers daily. The role combines variety, independence, and routine while keeping you active outdoors—no two days are the same.

The rota includes weekend shifts and may require Sunday deliveries at the Seacroft office (delete if not applicable).


What You’ll Do

  • Sort, pack, and distribute letters and parcels at the Seacroft Delivery Office
  • Drive a Royal Mail van daily, deriding high-quality deliveries by route
  • Walk deliveries (clients’ first/last miles, stairs/hills)
  • Build relationships with customers, ensuring local pride in great service
  • Handle all weather conditions—because deliveries never stop in Leeds!

What’s Expected

This role is physically demanding, fast-paced, and ensures high volume under pressure. Consider it before applying: ✔ Physical Fitness

  • Up to 12 miles daily (20,000+ steps)
  • Lifting/carrying 10kg+ mailbags
  • Climb stairs and hills

✔ Daily Driving

  • Royal Mail vans include automatic transmissions (TBC). Must pass zero-fault assessment.

✔ Weather and Independence

  • Deliver in all conditions (rain, snow, or high heat)
  • Work with minimal supervision, solving local inefficiencies

✔ Time Constraints

  • Peaks like* Christmas, referendums, or election day involve demanding time above 9 hours.
  • Every delivered item (including hazardous loads) is auditable.

Who We Want

We’ll provide uniforms, training, tools, and van access—just bring: 🆔 A full, manual UK driver’s licence with:

  • No more than 6 penalty points
  • Registered under your current legal name and address
