Postperson with Driving

Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) – Maldon, CM9 4LD

Location: Maldon Delivery Office, CM9 4LD

Job Type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68/hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available

Hours: 30 hours per week – Rotation across Monday to Saturday (08:00-15:00 or 13:00-17:00), with Sunday shifts (10:00-16:00 at Chelmsford Delivery Office) on a rota basis.


About the Role

Join Royal Mail as a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) and become the trusted face of our service. Deliver letters, parcels, and more in Maldon while staying active, connected to your community, and enjoying great benefits.

You’ll work a rotating shift schedule, with your rota confirming delivery routes tailored to demand.


What You’ll Do

  • Sort letters and parcels efficiently
  • Deliver mail by van and on foot in your local area
  • Build trust and relationships with customers
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions

What to Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

  • Walking up to 12 miles/day (~20,000 steps)
  • Daily driving of a Royal Mail van
  • Operating in all weather conditions
  • Delivering high-mail volumes, including during busiest periods

About You

Royal Mail will provide free training, a uniform, and a red van. To be successful, you’ll need:

✅ A full manual UK driving licence (max. 6 penalty points), registered to your current name and address ✅ Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment ✅ Physical fitness to walk long distances, climb hills, and lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags ✅ Reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable working Independently ✅ Organised and resilient under pressure ✅ Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service ✅ Comfortable working outdoors in all conditions
