Power Bi Dev - 6 Month Contract - Inside IR35 - Scotland Based

Rate - 420

Job Description

The Power BI Developer will be responsible for designing and developing high-quality analytical and reporting solutions using Power BI. They will translate business and user requirements into intuitive, performant, and well-governed dashboards, reports, and semantic models that enable effective decision-making.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary Agile delivery team, the Power BI Developer will ensure that reporting solutions are technically robust, accessible, secure, and aligned with organisational data standards.

Demonstrable Experience Of:

  • Designing and developing Power BI reports and dashboards that meet business requirements, with strong usability, accessibility, and visual clarity
  • Translating user stories and acceptance criteria into effective reporting and analytical solutions
  • Designing and developing semantic models aligned to best-practice dimensional modelling approaches (e.g., star schema principles)
  • Collaborating with Business Analysts and Data Engineers to ensure requirements are clear and underlying data structures support reporting needs
  • Optimising report performance through model design, query tuning, and best-practice development techniques
  • Effectively utilising Power BI Service components including workspace configuration, deployment pipelines, access controls, and row-level security
  • Applying governance, version control, and documentation standards to ensure maintainability and scalability
  • Supporting testing and validation activities, including resolving defects and ensuring outputs meet acceptance criteria
  • Contributing to user adoption through demonstrations, guidance, and support materials
  • Using dimensional models and understanding how model design impacts performance and usability
  • Managing Power BI Service environments, including security and deployment processes
  • Data governance, accessibility standards, and secure data handling
  • Working within Agile delivery teams

  • 3-7+ years' experience with demonstrable experience in Power BI development and analytics solutions is expected.
