Role Overview

Albany Beck is seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to support a leading London Market Insurance organisation on the development of enterprise reporting and analytics capabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing Power BI reporting solutions using data sourced from a Snowflake enterprise data platform. This role requires a strong combination of technical development expertise and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work closely with business users to understand requirements and deliver meaningful reporting and insights. We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked within the London Market Insurance sector and have experience developing Power BI solutions on modern cloud-based data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and visualisations.
  • Build scalable and performant reporting solutions using data from Snowflake and enterprise data platforms.
  • Develop data models, measures, calculations, and visualisations to support business reporting requirements.
  • Optimise Power BI solutions for performance, usability, and scalability.
  • Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, reliable, and aligned to business needs.
  • Work with data sourced from enterprise data platforms and cloud-based data environments.
  • Support data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance activities.
  • Collaborate with data engineering and architecture teams to understand data structures and reporting requirements.
  • Translate complex datasets into clear and actionable business insights.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of reporting and analytics capabilities.
  • Engage directly with business stakeholders to gather and refine reporting requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops and requirement discussions across business and technology teams.
  • Translate business needs into effective reporting and dashboard solutions.
  • Provide demonstrations and walkthroughs of developed solutions to end users.
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across multiple functions.
  • Support the delivery of reporting and analytics workstreams within wider transformation programmes.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for developed solutions.
  • Adhere to reporting standards, governance controls, and development best practices.
  • Support testing, deployment, and post-implementation activities.
  • Contribute to continuous enhancement and optimisation of reporting solutions.

  • Proven experience as a Power BI Developer within enterprise environments.
  • Strong experience developing dashboards, reports, and visualisations using Power BI.
  • Experience working with Snowflake as a reporting and analytics data source.
  • Strong understanding of data modelling principles and reporting best practices.
  • Experience working with enterprise-scale data platforms and large datasets.
  • Ability to gather requirements and engage effectively with business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

Desirable Experience

  • London Market Insurance experience.
  • Broader Insurance industry experience.
  • Experience working within cloud-based data and analytics environments.
  • Knowledge of underwriting, claims, exposure management, finance, or insurance operations reporting.
  • Experience working alongside Data Engineering, Data Architecture, or Data Governance teams.
  • Exposure to Azure-based data platforms and reporting ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of SQL and data querying techniques.
