Power BI Developer

12 Month Contract | Outside IR35 | £450-£500 per day | Hybrid (London)

We're working with a well-established organisation undergoing a major Retail Transformation Programme and are looking to appoint an experienced Power BI Developer on an initial 12+ month Outside IR35 contract. This opportunity sits across several high-profile transformation initiatives, with a strong focus on Retail, Omnichannel and Finance workstreams, delivering enterprise reporting solutions that will become core to the organisation's BAU reporting capability.

Essential Experience

To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate:

  • Previous experience delivering Power BI solutions within a Retail Transformation programme.
  • Experience supporting Retail, Omnichannel and Finance workstreams.
  • Proven ability to transition reporting solutions from project delivery into BAU, acting as the conduit between transformation teams and operational business functions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, working across both business and technology teams.

  • Design, develop and maintain high-quality Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable reporting and data modelling solutions.
  • Develop robust semantic models using star schema principles.
  • Build complex DAX measures, KPIs and Power Query transformations.
  • Optimise report performance, datasets and refresh processes.
  • Integrate Power BI with SQL Server, Azure, Databricks, APIs, SharePoint and other enterprise data sources.
  • Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and support data governance best practices.
  • Work with engineering teams to determine whether business metrics should be calculated within Power BI or upstream within the ETL platform.
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Data Engineers and senior stakeholders to deliver high-quality reporting solutions.
  • Support the transition of transformation deliverables into a sustainable BAU reporting environment.

Essential Skills

  • Extensive commercial experience with Microsoft Power BI (Desktop & Service).
  • Advanced DAX, Power Query (M) and SQL (T-SQL preferred).
  • Strong understanding of dimensional modelling and star schema design.
  • Experience developing high-performance enterprise reporting solutions.
  • Strong understanding of ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.
  • Experience integrating multiple enterprise data sources.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable

  • Databricks experience.
  • Azure Data Factory, Synapse or Azure SQL.
  • Microsoft Fabric exposure.
  • Power Platform (Power Apps / Power Automate).
  • PL-300 certification.
  • CI/CD or DevOps experience for BI deployments.
