A Snapshot of Your Day

This is a team lead role within the UK Converter System group to provide leadership to the Converter Power Electronics team within the Wind Power Technology division, the role is created to ensure business continuity. The position is critical for leading a team of power electronics engineer and Hardware design engineers, ensuring the ongoing development and operational stability of Siemens Energys Inverter Module area. To meet these objectives, this role is structured around three core areas: team leadership and development, technical oversight of the product design life cycle, and operational process management. This structure ensures the team is effectively guided, delivers high-quality technical solutions, and adheres to established engineering standards and project timelines. Given the focus on leading a specialised engineering team, the ideal candidate will possess significant experience in leading a team of engineers focussing on designing Power Modules (Inverter stacks), incl. Control circuits, etc. Also experience in managing suppliers and creating strategic long term partnerships is essential. A relevant degree in engineering is an essential requirement for success.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of professional electronics and power electronic design engineers, setting clear goals and managing performance.
  • Manage team resource allocation and project assignments to ensure operational targets and project milestones are met.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, facilitating regular communication and knowledge sharing.
  • Act as the primary interface between the team and other departments, including project management and senior leadership.
  • In close cooperation with lead experts, provide technical direction and oversight for the design, development, and validation of converter Power electronics.
  • Ensure a strong setup for managing review and approving key technical deliverables, including design specifications, schematics, and test reports, to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
  • Be involved in the design detail when required acting as design support.
  • Ensure the team's adherence to all organizational policies, engineering practices, and safety procedures.
  • Monitor team activities and project progress, providing regular status reports to management.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline development processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning for the UK Converter System group and be a strong partner for the head of department in developing and creating a strong integrated team on the two UK locations in Keele and Glasgow.

What you Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Significant professional experience in Power electronics and product design engineering, particularly in power module design.
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory, team lead or project managing capacity, managing professional-level engineers or key tasks to a successful conclusion.
