Power & Electrical Engineer (12-Month Contract)
Location: Home Based – North of England (National UK Travel Required)
Contract: 12 Months
Rate: £330 per day (umbrella company)
We're recruiting for an experienced Power & Electrical Engineer to join our client's Field Services team on a 12-month contract. This is a home-based role covering telecommunications sites across the UK, carrying out electrical inspection, testing, remedial works and small installations to ensure critical infrastructure remains safe, compliant and fully operational.
This role is ideal for a qualified electrician with Test & Inspection experience who enjoys working autonomously, travelling to customer sites and delivering high-quality electrical engineering services.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) across telecommunications sites in accordance with the planned maintenance schedule.
- Complete reactive electrical maintenance and remedial works identified through inspections or reported faults.
- Deliver small electrical installations and network upgrade works as part of ongoing infrastructure improvements.
- Conduct operational and electrical safety audits at designated sites.
- Provide on-site supervision and coordination of specialist electrical contractors where required.
- Complete and maintain accurate site documentation, certification and compliance records.
- Carry out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) for field teams and at designated locations as required.
- Produce monthly activity reports for the Electrical Governance Manager.
- Manage the purchase of electrical consumables and equipment using the company credit card, ensuring accurate monthly reporting.
- Plan and manage your own workload to ensure work is completed efficiently and safely.
- Travel extensively across the UK, including occasional overnight stays where required.
- Attend training courses and continually develop technical knowledge and skills.

About You
You'll be a motivated and self-sufficient electrical engineer with a strong focus on quality, compliance and safety. Comfortable working independently, you'll be confident managing your own schedule while maintaining excellent communication with colleagues, customers and contractors. You'll thrive in a field-based environment and be committed to delivering a high standard of workmanship across critical telecommunications infrastructure.

Essential Skills & Experience
- City & Guilds (or equivalent) qualified Electrician.
- City & Guilds (or equivalent) Test & Inspection qualification.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Current Security Clearance (or ability to meet clearance requirements).
- Previous experience in a similar electrical engineering or field services role.
- Strong IT skills with experience completing digital certification and reporting.
- Experience supervising specialist electrical contractors.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- City & Guilds PAT Testing qualification.
- IOSH (or equivalent) Health & Safety qualification.
- Minimum of five years' post-qualification experience.
- Knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
- Experience with fire and intruder alarm systems.
- Knowledge of UPS systems, standby generators and Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Experience carrying out minor building fabric repairs.
