About Argus
Argus Analytics forms one half of the advisory division of Argus Media Group. Comprising a global team of 90 analysts, we provide clients with analysis, data and forecasts across 35 commodities and markets spanning oil & gas, chemicals, fertilizers, generation fuels, metals and energy transition solutions. Our work is firmly focused on market fundamentals — considering end-to-end value chains, international trade flows and macroeconomic trends. Our value proposition centres around the quality of our analysts, the depth of our data and our ability to leverage Argus’ wider strengths, including 55 years of commodity markets expertise, unrivalled global networks and proprietary datasets.
What Will You Be Doing
As part of the continued expansion of our business, we are currently looking for a passionate, driven and energetic subject matter expert to own the development of our long-term power forecasting capability. This role will deliver analysis that will form the basis for new products and underpin other existing services.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in European Power analysis and forecasting to play a leading role in the development of new services and to position themselves as a market expert in an area that is vital to the development of our business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and continuously improve fundamental power market models (supply, demand, dispatch, price formation). Translate modelling outputs into clear market views and price forecasts;
- Lead the production of forward curves / long-term outlooks;
- Custodian of Argus Analytics’ knowledge of major drivers and trends across the power industry, including the identification and quantification of key market risks (policy, fuel pricing, capacity shifts);
- Design, deliver and improve client-facing deliverables (reports, consulting, presentations)
- Take ownership of specific market segments (e.g. Germany, UK, or Iberia);
- Build strong understanding of, and interlinkage with, other associated Argus services (Gas, Coal), data and capabilities, to help ensure market views are consistent across our offerings;
- Work with stakeholders across other Argus teams, including Project Consulting and other Analytics areas, to ensure relevant knowledge is shared and used effectively;
- Contribute to Argus’s view on power markets development through the energy transition.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
